10 years of South East Dance

South East Dance has commissioned 23 films over the last 10 years.

 

1,258 artists and teachers attended professional training sessions in 2001.

 

In 2005 820 requests were made for special advice from South East Dance staff.

 

South East Dance commissions have won 7 awards.

 

3,662 workshops took place in one year alone (2004) working with groups and individuals.

 

Tra La La is the most distributed South East Dance film, with 38 screenings worldwide.

 

South East Dance commissioned 30 artists to create 16 films between 1998 and 2006.

 

Our collection of four, three-minute films was broadcast by Channel Four in November 2006 through its Three-Minute Wonder series, estimated viewing figures were 1-1.7 million per film.

 

 

3,076 ‘at risk’ young people positively engaged in dance activities through the three-year initiative Dansync (2003 – 2006).

 

3,218 young adults will be volunteering as dance leaders, mentors and in youth dance committees across the south east from 2008 – 2011.

 

Over our ten years we have raised £1,608,753 additional funding including in-kind to make art happen.
