East Brighton Dance Development Programme (2002-2006)

A project to inspire residents in deprived areas of East Brighton to take part in dance activity regardless of age or ability. South East Dance worked in long term collaboration with residents to offer opportunities for parents & toddlers, older people, young people and adults with physical and learning difficulties.

Dance activities were complemented with sessions focusing advise and information regarding drug and alcohol abuse, teenage pregnancy and other related topics delivered in partnership with local youth agencies. Young people were offered the chance to take part in accredited award schemes including the Duke of Edinburgh Award and the Sports Leaders Award and residents were trained in teaching and leading to keep classes going beyond the funding.
