East Brighton Dance Development Programme
Making a difference for the community...
South East Dance is dedicated to taking dance out into the community and really making a difference. The East Brighton Dance Development Programme ran from 2002-2006 and was funded by Positive Futures and eb4u. The aim of the programme was to inspire the residents of East Brighton to take part in dance activity regardless of their age and ability. The programme offered opportunities for parents & toddlers, older people, young people and adults with physical and learning difficulties.
Dance activities were complimented with sessions focusing on drug and alcohol abuse/ teenage pregnancy and other related topics taught in partnership with local youth agencies. Young people were also offered the chance to take part in accredited award schemes such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award and the Sports Leaders Award.
“Those young people work hard to do what they do and they all deserve to show it off. They should feel really pleased and proud of themselves because I for sure was.” (Parent talking about the Summer Showcase)
