Big Dance South East England 2010

 

Welcome to Big Dance South East England 2010. We are thrilled to be the regional facilitator and lead organisation for Big Dance 2010 in South East England and we are excited to be collaborating with partners in the region to provide an exceptional range of opportunities to get more people dancing. We have six hubs offering a vast array of dancing opportunities during the Big Dance period. So, wherever you live in the South East of England you won't be far from performances, workshops and events to get you dancing. It doesn't matter if you are young or old, there is bound to be something to get your toes tapping and your heart jumping as Big Dance hits the South East!

Big Dance Schools Pledge

The Big Dance Schools Pledge has led to 72 schools across the South East undertaking 100 minutes of extra dance during the week of Big Dance (5 - 9 July). By signing up to the Schools Pledge
each of the schools will be able to create an opportunity for young
people to have fun, use their creative talent and enjoy extra physical activity all through the medium of dance. For further information and to sign up, visit www.bigdance2010.com.

The Brighton and Hove Big Dance programme is led by South East
Dance, supported by Brighton and Hove City Council, and coordinated by Creative Partnerships at the Centre for Community Engagement, University of Sussex.

 

Buckinghamshire Hub
Wycombe Swan opened in 1992, and is one of the leading theatres in the UK. It stages a variety of dance performances programming work with Dance Touring Partnership and the Dance Consortium and is heavily involved in providing opportunities to get people involved in dance through an extensive education and outreach programme. Oxford Hub
Big Dance South East England is being delivered in the Oxford Hub
by Oxford City Council, through the Arts Officer, in partnership with Cowley Road Carnival and with support from Pegasus Theatre. Oxford City Council's Dance Development Plan aims to increase participation in dance, work with those involved in dance provision to enhance the profile, quality and variety of dance activity in the city, and lead, initiate and fundraise for innovative dance-based projects. Portsmouth Hub
Hampshire Dance is passionate about getting people involved in dance.
