COMMUNICATING WITH CLARITY

Led by Rivca Rubin and curated by Lindsey Butcher as part of Flourish

A 3 day workshop with Rivca Rubin for dance artists to develop their communication and advocacy skills. Rivca brings 20 years of previous experience as a dancer, teacher and choreographer, and specifically improvisation which has informed her way of delivering training. Communicating with Clarity has been created for people wishing to develop their communication skills with individuals, and in leadership & management - to communicate effectively with ease, to coach self and others, to manage and resolve conflict.

In response to South East Dance’s call for artist curated ideas for Flourish, regional artist Lindsey Butcher recommended that South East Dance run this course for dance artists, her rationale being that “As an independent dance practitioner and inquisitive body, my work remains focused primarily in the physical. Increasingly as my career expands into that of teacher, mentor, choreographer and advisor I am aware of a need to invest in and develop my experience and confidence in the area of communication skills, which would help to support my growing practice.”

About Rivca

Rivca has been a coach, trainer, facilitator predominantly in the cultural industries since 1998. Prior to that she had a successful career as a practitioner and producer from 1978 – 1995 and was a research fellow at Manchester Metropolitan University from 1997 - 2001. She studied Philosophy and System Thinking, has an M.Sc in Applied Behavioural Sciences, is an NLP Master Practitioner, and Independent Trainer of NVC (NonViolent Communication). Her original training was in classical ballet, contemporary dance, physical theatre, improvisation, movement and BodyMind approaches.
