Local dance students take over South East Dance for the second year running...
As part of the Government initiative, 11 Million Takeover Day, Friday 6th November 2009 saw young people take over offices and workplaces all across the UK. South East Dance opened its doors for the second year running to local dance students wanting to have their voices and opinions heard.
South East Dance welcomed an ethusiastic group of Dance and Performing Arts students from Varndean, Blatchington Mill and BHASVIC ans Sussex Downs College.
“I enjoyed the amount of new information and that our opinion was taken into consideration” said student Martina Husarova, Blatchignton Mill College.
The action packed day included: assessing and debating the relative merits of different marketing methods and materials, creating budgets and project plans, producing a sales pitch to market a dance film and exploring the benefits of community dance projects.
Student, Taylor Newman-Bruce from Varndean College commented: “I found every workshop useful and interesting.”
Catherine Gill, moving Voices coordinator and project manager for the event said: "It was a fantastic success. Myself and my colleagues were very impressed with the entusiasm and ideas the students brought to their workshops".
